Exercise – Make it work for you!

What is your favorite way to get exercise into your day? Mine is walking. In my eyes, there is nothing like walking. You can change up the way you walk every day! The variety of ways you can change up a walk are endless. You can:

Choose to notice every change in nature since the last time you walked this path.

Choose to do some major listening. Listen to the birds; listen to the traffic; listen to anything you can hear.

Choose to meditate. Take deep breaths through your nose, hold the fresh air in, exhale slowly as you walk. Can you pick up any scents that are meaningful to you? Can you smell dampness? I sometimes smell the fresh scent of manure! Funny!

Yes, I live out in the country. There is nothing like it. I wouldn’t even think of listening to music or a podcast while I walk. I have tried but it just feels like that is not the best way to enjoy my walk.

I sometimes take my smart phone just so I can take pictures. I have taken some really awesome pictures while walking. Today I wished I had taken my phone. Today the sun was behind a cloud for most of the scenery that I was looking at, and brightly shining on my home and outbuildings. So, all of the fields and road in front of me were in the shade and the sun was brightly shining on my home in the distance. It was beautiful and I would have liked to have gotten a picture.
